Senior Data Analyst, Sustainability job description

This Senior Data Analyst (ESG, GHG and Climate) role on Constellation’s Sustainability & Climate Strategy team is focused on the management of data in the environmental, social and governance (ESG) space, including inventorying, measuring, and reporting progress toward public targets and required ESG disclosures.

Responsibilities:

Primary owner in the sustainability and climate strategy team for management of GHG and ESG data and reporting solutions, including end-to-end management of GHG and ESG data from data pipeline development and collection from multiple internal stakeholders to processing, aggregation, conversion, calculations, QC, and delivering the ESG Data Index as part of Constellation’s annual Sustainability Report.

Conduct Constellation’s annual greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory process, in accordance with relevant standards and protocols (GHG Protocol, ISO 14064), within a carbon management software platform.

Collaborate with stakeholders to collect and verify data related to emissions sources, energy consumption, waste management, water use, and other relevant factors.

Work with various collaborators to design and implement internal controls around ESG data, documentation, and governance for regulatory and financial reporting processes to align with Constellation’s SEC reporting requirements.

Support, and as needed develop, standardized workflows for ESG data, documentation & report reviews, sustainability & climate strategy team tie-out, signoff & audit processes in the ESG data management and reporting solution.

Prepare data for responses to leading ESG rating agencies, the Company’s key customers, and investors to optimize ESG scores and achieve market recognition, creating automated processes as needed for annual reporting requirements and other internal or external data requests.

Supporting continuous improvement of our ESG data management process.

As needed, conduct or support complex data analysis and preparation of accurate and compelling reports, dashboards, presentations, and recommendations to communicate ESG, climate, and GHG-related information, such as risks, performance against targets, and general education to internal and external stakeholders (executives & board, management, employees, regulatory bodies, investors).

Support implementation of Constellation’s climate commitment roadmap and other key strategic climate projects by organizing and analyzing data, communicating information to key internal stakeholders, identifying and evaluating emission reduction strategies, modeling performance against targets for identified strategies, and other duties as needed.

Participate in ESG- and GHG-related meetings, conferences, and workshops to enhance professional knowledge and stay abreast of industry trends.

Senior Data Analyst, Sustainability job requirements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in an analytical or quantitative role.

  • Proficiency in data pipeline development, management, reporting, and analysis, with advanced skills in MS Excel and experience with at least one programming language desired (preferably SQL or Python) and direct experience in Workiva/Wdata a plus.

  • Familiarity with greenhouse gas emissions accounting and reporting standards (GHG Protocol Scopes 1, 2, and 3) or a strong desire to learn.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to communicate complex data to multiple stakeholders at varying levels of an organization.

  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy, data integrity, and adherence to deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.

  • Highly curious and passionate about corporate climate action and the ability to leverage impact at the intersection of climate data and business intelligence.

  • Ability to monitor changes to GHG, ESG and climate reporting criteria/standards and their implications to operations.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.

  • Intermediate to advanced experience with data visualization and dashboarding (Tableau or PowerBI).

  • Experience collecting fuel and energy use data, using GHG inventory tools (e.g., eGRID, EPA GHG Factor Hub, GREET, etc.), and analyzing GHG emissions for Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 greenhouse gas reporting.

  • Knowledge of various Scope 3 calculation methodologies, including understanding of carbon life cycle assessments (LCAs) or environmental product declarations (EPDs) and how to harmonize that data with Scope 3 GHG accounting; experience preparing LCAs/EPDs a plus.

  • Experience with ESG reporting and GHG accounting platforms or tools such as Workiva/Wdesk or Persefoni.

  • Knowledge of ESG and climate reporting frameworks, surveys, and target-setting initiatives such as GRI, SASB, CDP, TCFD, SBTi, EPRI, etc.

  • Knowledge of electricity/power industry and renewable markets. Intermediate to advanced experience with data visualization and dashboarding (Tableau or PowerBI).

  • Experience collecting fuel and energy use data, using GHG inventory tools (e.g., eGRID, EPA GHG Factor Hub, GREET, etc.), and analyzing GHG emissions for Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 greenhouse gas reporting.

Job Description & Responsibilities

This Senior Data Analyst (ESG, GHG and Climate) role on Constellation’s Sustainability & Climate Strategy team is focused on the management of data in the environmental, social and governance (ESG) space, including inventorying, measuring, and reporting progress toward public targets and required ESG disclosures.
