Senior Data Analyst, Survey job description

The COVID-19 Surveys Data Analyst will be responsible for conducting data analysis and producing reports for COVID-19 surveys in NYC, including serological surveys and population-based surveys on long COVID. This position reports to the Senior Project Manager in the Bureau of Epidemiology Services, NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.

The COVID-19 Surveys Data Analyst will lead analysis work with a Health Department team to:

  • Lead management, cleaning, and analysis of population and serosurvey data using statistical software, incorporating weighting for complex survey design
  • Lead analysis and reporting of long COVID among New York residents using data from multiple BES surveys (Health Opinion Poll, Community Health Survey, long COVID survey)
  • Analyze data, create tables, and contribute writing to manuscripts
  • Serve as technical expert on COVID-19 data for internal and external inquiries
  • Work with other data analysts to check each other’s work
  • Maintain confidentiality of study data
  • Oversee the development of routine data reports customized for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create documentation and analysis plans to describe the analyses
  • Develop data products, including routine reports for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in public health or related field
  • At least two years of experience in health data analysis and epidemiologic methods, including experience conducting analyses of complex survey data
  • Great attention to detail and very organized
  • Highly motivated and organized with the ability to work well in teams and independently on multiple simultaneous projects
  • Excellent interpersonal, research, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in navigating computer systems; ability to learn new data systems quickly and to comply with data integrity and security to safeguard all personal identifiable information
  • Proficiency in use of data analytics and visualization software (specifically, SAS, SUDAAN) and Microsoft Office (Excel pivot tables)
  • Strong written, research, and oral communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate a professional, positive attitude and work ethic
  • Demonstrated commitment to health equity and reducing health disparities
  • Able to interact professionally with people from diverse cultural, racial, ethnic, gender, and socioeconomic backgrounds during a time of crisis
