Senior Data Analyst job description

The Data Analyst role is critical for Vanna’s developing analytics capabilities. Your work will focus on providing data-driven insights from a wide range of data sources including payer claims, data collected from Vanna’s platform, health information exchange feeds, and EMR data. You’ll become a subject matter expert on all things data at Vanna, working hand-in-hand with our clinical, operations, product, and engineering teams to develop the technology and services that enable our Vanna Coaches to provide compassionate care to our members living with severe mental illness.

This is a unique opportunity to join a small but growing team, where you’ll have the opportunity to develop many of our foundational data capabilities from scratch. You have a growth mindset and are excited about expanding your technical skills and stepping into new responsibilities as the team and company grow.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively across the entire Vanna team to design and implement Vanna’s clinical, operational, financial, and product KPIs
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses for internal stakeholders and clients, and present findings in a way that drives maximum impact
  • Evolve our core data models to support emerging use cases, and develop frameworks and testing strategies to keep data quality high
  • Build out our reporting and dashboarding layer in support of self-service analytics
  • Own the input layer to our data platform, and work directly with Vanna’s clinicians to ensure that the data we ingest is clinically valid and analytically relevant
  • Partner with data engineers to evolve our internal data tooling
  • Work with our engineering team to integrate algorithms and other analytical outputs into user-facing applications
Senior Data Analyst job requirements

About You

  • 4-6 years of analytics experience, including at least 1 year working with healthcare data
  • Advanced SQL skills, including some familiarity with DBT
  • Experience working with analytical data stores like Delta Lake, Snowflake, BigQuery, etc.
  • Familiarity with dashboarding tools
  • Experience working with relational databases like Postgres, MySQL, or SQL Server
  • Intermediate Python, or basic knowledge and a strong desire to learn
  • Databricks experience preferred
  • Some experience working with Google Sheets or Excel
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate on a growing team
  • A detective mindset – you love getting to the root of problems and using data to solve them
