Job Description & Responsibilities
Location: Remote
Must reside in one of the following states: CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, MA, MD, MN, NJ, NY, NC, PA, TX, UT, VA, WA or Washington DC
The Senior Data Analyst will have a direct and immediate impact on nearly all of Opentrons’ go-to-market efforts to bring affordable lab automation to scientists worldwide. In this role, you will enable business leaders to make effective decisions and work more efficiently. You will also enable our programs to be managed and optimized with more sophistication. The Senior Data Analyst is an integral part of the team and your efforts will amplify the efforts of everyone around you.
What You Will Do
- Use Tableau to create reports, data visualizations and dashboards that serve as a single source of truth across Finance, Sales, Operations and Marketing
- Work cross-functionally with go-to-market stakeholders to Identify business priorities, surface trends, and scope analytics projects
- Build a strong partnership with Data Engineering and Analytics Engineering consultant and/or team members, helping them define pain points and opportunities to help address with data and BI infrastructure improvements e.g. Stitch, Snowflake, Meltano, and similar
- Conduct root cause analysis for business questions and deliver findings through structured story-telling
- Proactively set & communicate accurate project estimates; deliver timely insights
- Become an expert in methodology and rationale used to calculate key metrics and KPIs of the company. Develop data dictionaries to ensure tight alignment.
- Deploy predictive analytics to enable sales and marketing automation, including projects like lead scoring, send time optimization, and more
- Facilitate public information scraping efforts to help grow our database e.g. funding, core labs, and primary/secondary authors of life science publications
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience
Experience
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in data analysis or similar role analyzing complex data sets, in an enterprise environment required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Tableau is your primary data visualization tool; you are very comfortable with SQL
- You’re motivated by helping advance life science’s ability to solve important problems through lab automation
- You are a naturally curious person with inclination and skills for conducting evidence based inquiries
- You have a knack for translating data into easily understood and actionable insights, and are excited about utilizing data to make strategic business decisions
- You are able to apply a consultative approach and break complex questions down using data
- Reviewing analytical output and packaging it for a business audience comes naturally to you
- You are unafraid to present data that contradicts anecdotal evidence
- You understand the importance of providing timely and actionable insights

Compensation Details: The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $105,000 and $145,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and years of experience. We typically target mid-range for well-qualified candidates. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including equity and full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
