WCIB Data Engineer & Data Analyst

Wealth, Corporate, Commercial and Institutional Banking (WCIB) at US Bank manages approximately $9B in revenue, $3.1B in net income and generates approximately 37% of overall revenue for the bank. Our analyst is an expert professional who works independently. This position is responsible for drawing solutions from multiple domains and weaponizing data.

Your day to day:

Responsibilities include working on big data/analytics projects, including gathering and integrating large volumes of data, performing analysis, interpreting results and developing actionable insights and recommendations for use across the company. This includes hands on data development, designing, developing and maintaining data pipelines and infrastructure to ensure the availability, accuracy and performance of our data dashboards. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate data from various sources and systems including data mining, data auditing, aggregation, validation and reconciliation. This position may also have a working knowledge of analytics and statistical software such as SQL, R, Python, Excel, Hadoop, SAS, SPSS, Geo-spatial tools and others to perform analysis, interpret data and build advanced analytic solutions.

You will also work on advancing the development of metrics, reports and analysis into integrated dashboards that support field-based relationship managers and product leaders in Wealth, Corporate, Commercial and Institutional Banking (WCIB). Through the deep understanding of your users and the data you will consult on statistical analysis performed by your Data Science peers as well as contribute to measuring the key business outcomes as new analytic products are tested with the relationship manager and leadership team in WCIB. You get to work with leading ML and AI tools – both on-prem and cloud. This role will also play an active role with other data engineers, Salesforce experts, and business line product owners in the business line ensuring the critical data is available and reliable in the proper platforms with clear SLAs.

Key Deliverables:

Communication/Presentation

  • Communicate complex data concepts, metrics and dashboards to a non-technical audience.
  • Engage with business stakeholders, challenge assumptions and build industry leading analytical solutions.
  • Partnering with new and existing data vendors.

Domain Expertise

  • Quickly learn complex B2B banking dynamics and design data-driven solutions that create competitive differentiation.
  • Familiarity and understanding of banking and investment products and services.

Data Engineering

  • Wrangle, join and create new data from a variety of different sources and efficiently create a unified user-friendly dashboard for the business.
  • Enable a data foundation that includes advanced analytic solutions for RM’s that allows them to find, track and discover opportunities.
  • Research data assets from multiple disparate sources, applies various technologies find and move data assets for analysis, development of metrics, reports, and statistics.
  • Documenting calculations, code, and adhering to data management principles
  • Validating and testing data assets of others in the form of peer review
  • Identify and lead the remediation of key data quality issues impacting Salesforce and our ability to deliver
  • Participate in the buildout of the analytics delivery, reporting and technology infrastructure required to support the delivery of insights and reporting.

Analytics / Data Science

  • Exploring statistical analysis that could be applied to the data; Performing descriptive statistics, exploring datasets, building visualizations iteratively to explore and understand the data
  • Conduct exploratory analysis and partner with data science team to design ML/AI solutions

Dashboard Development

  • Building business friendly dashboards in Microsoft Power BI or similar dashboarding tool such as Tableau.
  • Delivery of advanced analytic solutions via modern BI tools that prioritizes potential new leads to improve prospecting, data for deepening engagement within our existing client set, and reducing the risk of attrition.

Innovation

  • Curiosity and proactiveness to research new and cutting-edge data sourcing and development technologies such as web scraping, text analytics and NLP.
