Job Description & Responsibilities
At the forefront of Upstart’s success, the Investor Analytics team plays a pivotal role in securing capital—a critical function that powers our business. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role where you’ll collaborate across the organization to deliver the analytical insights and technical capabilities that drive data-informed decision-making.
As a Senior Data Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in influencing Upstart’s success. Partnering closely with our Capital Markets and Lending Partnership teams, you’ll drive insights into loan credit and financial performance, helping investors, banks, and credit unions leverage Upstart’s cutting-edge technology to achieve their business goals. This is a high-visibility opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the growth and innovation of a company reshaping the future of lending.
Position Location - This role is available in the following locations: Remote, USA
Time Zone Requirements - This team operates on both East and West coast time zones, at the candidate preference
Travel Requirements - This team has regular onsite collaboration sessions. These occur 5 days per Month at the San Mateo office. If you need to travel to make these meetups, Upstart will cover all travel related expenses.
How you’ll make an impact:
- Exciting, high-impact role: Work closely with Capital Markets and Lending Partnership teams to shape Upstart’s capital strategy. You’ll engage directly with capital investors to showcase the strength of Upstart’s platform, build lasting confidence, and craft tailored capital solutions that drive innovation and growth
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work hand-in-hand with Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Product, Engineering, and Finance teams to shape credit metrics, craft compelling narratives, and develop financial forecasts, driving alignment on the state of the Upstart platform.
- Shape Strategic Influence: Drive impactful decisions within Upstart’s credit platform and the investor/lending community by identifying opportunities, evaluating risks, and leveraging deep insights
Requirements
What we’re looking for:
Minimum qualifications:
- Industry Experience: Over 6 years of professional growth and proven success in the technology and financial sectors, showcasing a deep understanding of industry dynamics and innovation.
- Analytical Expertise: Strong background in credit analytics, valuation, and quantitative financial model development, with hands-on proficiency in Python, R, and SQL for data-driven decision-making.
- Data-Driven Decision-Making: Expertise in working with large datasets, data modeling, and building robust data pipelines, utilizing tools like Databricks, DBT, Looker, Snowflake, and Redshift to deliver actionable insights.
Preferred qualifications:
- Proven Cross-Functional Collaboration: Exceptional track record of building strong partnerships with cross-functional teams, particularly in Finance, Product, Data Engineering, and Machine Learning, to align on strategy and drive impactful outcomes.
- Executive-Level Storytelling: Skilled at translating complex business and performance insights into compelling, executive-ready narratives, using data visualization tools like Tableau, PowerBI, or Looker to influence and drive strategic decisions at the C-suite level.

At Upstart, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The anticipated base salary for this position is expected to be within the below range. Your actual base pay will depend on your geographic location–with our “digital first” philosophy, Upstart uses compensation regions that vary depending on location. Individual pay is also determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
In addition, Upstart provides employees with target bonuses, equity compensation, and generous benefits packages (including medical, dental, vision, and 401k).
