Under the direction of the Director of Operational and Reporting Analytics, the Sr. Data Analyst will provide support to the organization in various aspects related to data, analytics, and operations to help improve data integrity and information usability. The ideal candidate will bring a background in supporting operational reporting needs, project ownership, understanding metrics, report development, analytical thinking, teamwork and a preferred 5 years of experience with a health plan or medical group in a finance/analytics/reporting capacity

Essential Job Function:

  • Gather data, validate data acquisition methods, reformat data, ensure appropriate data types, trim, clean, scrub, and conform data in preparation for analysis and reporting.
  • Apply data quality management principles across various data sources, platforms, and multi-functional settings.
  • Interact with business data owners, analysts, and engineers to develop and implement proactive data quality monitoring procedures and practices.
  • Perform data and process validation for recurring and ad hoc data loads and analytics for internal and external customers.
  • Resolve data quality incidents from data users across the organization.
  • Ability to breakdown highly complex problems and large amounts of data to provide a clear understanding of the data details and nuances.
  • Ability to multitask and function in a high volume/busy environment.
  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and appropriately plan, prioritize, organize and carry out tasks and responsibilities.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, and Sigma Computing.
  • Essential: sitting, finger dexterity, walking, hearing, speaking and hearing. Continuous: sitting, hearing, speaking.
  • Frequent: reaching at shoulder Occasional: standing, walking, stooping/bending, kneeling, crawling, climbing stairs, crouching/squatting, twisting body, lifting usual amount of 20 pounds, pushing/pulling usual amount of 20 pounds, carrying usual amount of 20 pounds.
  • Good decision making and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate people.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, computer manuals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of customers or employees of the company.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new things, adapt to a changing environment and deal with various personalities.
  • Ability to work as a part of a team.
Senior Data Analyst job requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience including Data Modeling utilizing tools such as SQL and MSAccess, preferably in healthcare. Experience with accounting concepts desired.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, algebraic manipulation, Boolean math, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Quantitative Reasoning and practical thinking methodology, Data Process Modeling. Strong attention to detail. Requires excellent communication, analytical, facilitation and problem-solving skills.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to work with Microsoft Windows programs such as Office, Word, Excel, and Access. A basic knowledge of statistics, including averages, deviation, correlation, and significance. Requires excellent communication, analytical, facilitation and problem-solving skills. Strong interest in working with large / complex / segmented data sets and extract, analyze, and interpret financial / operational / clinical data to address business questions across organization. Strong interest in learning healthcare industry concepts. Understand basic data base design and programming concepts, including relational database, SQL, and client/server architecture. Understand basic financial concepts.
