Job Description & Responsibilities
Noblis is currently seeking a Transportation Engineer/Planner/Data Analyst--Junior for our Surface Transportation Program.

Noblis has a team of 45+ professionals supporting multiple research, development, and deployment-focused programs for the USDOT. These programs focus on using emerging technologies – including Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), connected vehicle, automated vehicle, and other emerging mobility and smart community technologies – to transform how we travel – enhancing safety, improving mobility, and reducing transportation’s impact on the environment. We are positioning to grow our Surface Transportation Team with other terrific team members.
This is an opportunity for someone with a background and experience in transportation to support the USDOT ITS programs. Noblis provides strategic, technical, and programmatic support to the USDOT ITS Joint Program Office (JPO) – planning and conducting research activities, coordinating technology deployment programs, and seeking disruptive innovation to transform the increasingly connected and automated world of surface transportation systems.
As a member of this dynamic team you will participate in the following activities:
- Analyzing the potential of emerging transportation system technologies and their implications including: connected and automated vehicles, wireless communication technologies, data management systems, and next generation analysis, modeling and simulation of traffic management systems.
- Conducting analysis of user needs and requirements.
- Writing research, economic analysis, training, and program evaluation white papers and presentations.
- Assisting USDOT program managers with technical and programmatic activities.
- Developing data analyses and visualizations using data in USDOT databases.
- Developing statements of work and Government cost estimates.

Required Qualifications
- BS in a related technical are/field such as: Civil Engineering, Systems Engineering, Transportation Engineering/Planning, Urban Planning, Operations Research, Economics, or Public Policy
- Strong analytical ability required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills required
- Strong professional, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Must be an US citizen or green card holder
- Ability to go on-site as needed

- Contributes to determining approach to and technical objectives of work assignments

Desired Qualifications
An understanding of, and familiarity with, the following is a plus:
- Interest in transportation and its impacts on safety, mobility, and the environment
- Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
- Connected and/or automated vehicle technologies

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package.

USD $61,600.00 - USD $96,250.00 /Yr.
