In this position, you will participate in BAE Systems' nationwide LEAP Internship & Co-op Program, where you will Learn, Engage, Apply, and Progress within the company. The LEAP Program will provide you with the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on impactful projects, engage in career development opportunities, and network with our business leaders and the other students in the program.

The Opportunity

BAE Systems in Mechanicsburg, PA is seeking a Summer 2024 Data Analyst Intern. Join our Strategic Weapon System Logistics Data Warehouse Team and become a member of a diverse, enthusiastic, and highly productive team, where each employee has the opportunity to grow their skills and work on rewarding projects for the US / UK TRIDENT Submarine Strategic Weapon System Logistics Program. The selected candidate work closely with numerous interdisciplinary IT and engineering teams by performing the following functions:

  • Identifying valuable data sources and automate collection processes
  • Undertaking preprocessing of structured and unstructured data
  • Analyzing large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns
  • Building predictive models and machine-learning algorithms
  • Combining models through ensemble modeling
  • Presenting information using data visualization techniques
  • Proposing solutions and strategies to business challenges
  • Collaborating with engineering and product development teams

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Enrolled student at an accredited 4-year college / university having completed a minimum of two years (rising Junior)
  • Working towards a Data Analytics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, System Integration (Software) or other degree with suitable data analysis content
  • Demonstrated self-starter with organizational, planning, and follow-up skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively with others
  • A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques
  • Strong problem solving skills with an emphasis on product development
  • Ability to work collaboratively with remote team members leveraging an application like Microsoft Teams

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

  • Familiarity with Informatica
  • Experience with Supply Chain data and/or management
  • Experience querying databases and using statistical computer languages (e.g., R, Python, SLQ, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets
  • Experience working with and creating data architectures
  • Knowledge and experience in statistical and data mining techniques: GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, social network analysis, etc.
What we offer at BAE Systems

Full-Time Salary Range: $39395 - $53165

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20+ hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
