Job Description & Responsibilities
The San Francisco 49ers are seeking a Performance Analyst passionate about sports science and data analysis to join in a hybrid role between Health & Performance (H&P) and Research & Development (R&D). This analyst would work on a variety of projects and research initiatives designed to support daily and long-term performance goals within the football organization. This role will report to the R&D Director, but day-to-day responsibilities will be split equally between H&P and R&D.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Design, implement, and maintain data processes and modeling utilized by performance, medical, coaching, and scouting staff.
Automate data capture and collection to enhance visualization and communication of performance metrics from wearable technology, GPS, force plates, HRV, and other athlete monitoring systems.
Analyze and interpret physiological and biomechanical data in collaboration with staff to optimize workload, performance, recovery, and training practices.
Define and implement new health and performance technologies and practices to contribute to the long-term development of the performance department.
Research and stay up to date on best practices regarding data and technologies relevant to football performance.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to integrate performance insights into broader team strategies.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Required Abilities and Skills:
Ability to write clean, well-documented code, with an understanding of how to use version control. Potential languages may include R, Python, SQL, etc.
Ability to develop interpretable and actionable models explainable to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong communication skills and ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
Understanding of high performance athletics with ability to translate to the game of football.
Collaborative mindset and the ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
Ability to work non-traditional hours, including weekends, holidays, and travel as needed.’
Preferred Abilities and Skills:
Education or certification in kinesiology, exercise science, physical therapy, or other performance-related fields, with an understanding or passion for predictive modeling and statistics.
Education or certification in predictive modeling and statistics, with an understanding or passion for kinesiology, exercise science, physical therapy, or other performance-related fields.
Experience with tracking data, athlete monitoring systems, and principles of high performance.
Ability to write and deploy automated processes in a cloud computing environment.
What we offer
Travel:
10% of travel time expected for this position.
Compensation:
$110,000 - $120,000 annually
