About The Role:

The Data & Research team is key to the operational and financial success of Outschool. Our mission is to empower Outschool by identifying and tracking key metrics, developing models to guide operations, and delivering actionable insights. We are responsible for anchoring the company around metrics of business importance and advising partners around the company in making smart, data-driven strategic decisions.

At other companies, this role would be equivalent to a senior position. At Outschool we have decided to take an unconventional approach to titling that aligns with our values and is focused on impact above status. You can learn more about our titling philosophy here.

As a Data Analyst for Marketing and Supply, you will work with two key departments within Outschool. With the Marketing department (75% time), you will build metrics, models, dashboards, and analyses to guide marketing strategy and promote efficiency. With the Supply department (25% time), you will facilitate data-driven decisions to expand and support the population of world-class educators who offer classes on Outschool.

You’ll help shape Outschool’s strategy by sharing key insights, digging into some of our most pressing problems, and finding creative ways to use data to improve our products, services, and go-to-market motions. You’ll also have an opportunity to help us build out our data platform and culture, as we continue to grow rapidly both as a business and a company.

Core Responsibilities:

Maintain and improve Outschool’s multitouch attribution model (MTA)
Analyze and report on the efficiency and effectiveness of marketing campaigns across diverse channels
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and develop analytical data models that align with business needs
Write efficient SQL queries to develop metrics, dashboards, and insights
Leverage dbt (data build tool) to transform and organize complex data sets, ensuring data quality and consistency
Assist in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and workflows
Support the development of data visualizations and dashboards to present analytical findings and key performance indicators
Conduct data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can drive actionable recommendations
Help identify and resolve data quality issues, ensuring accuracy and integrity of the data

Data Analyst, Marketing job requirements

Desired Experience & Skills:

A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or a related field, or equivalent experience
5+ years of professional experience in marketing analytics or data science
Knowledge of major marketing platforms (Google, Meta, TikTok) and the data they ingest and generate
Experience building and maintaining multitouch attribution models
Advanced SQL skills with experience writing complex queries (e.g. complex aggregations, window functions)
Knowledge of data modeling concepts and principles
Familiarity with data transformation tools (e.g. dbt)
Prior experience with data visualization tools (Looker, Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a small, scrappy startup environment
Growth mindset with a passion for learning and keeping up with emerging trends in data analytics
Bonus Experience & Skills:

Experience with a marketplace business
Experience with advanced data techniques for marketing (e.g. media mix modeling, incrementality testing)
Proficiency in at least one data-relevant programming language (Python, R, etc.)
