Data Analyst, Insurance job description

This position supports our medical professional liability line of business and can be fully remote in the United States.

We are not offering sponsorship now or in the future for this position.

Job Summary:

The position is responsible for performing data analytics, assisting in the tracking of operational and business trends, and preparation of operational reporting and analysis for HCPL or other segments within the Specialty P&C segment. The Data Analyst I will work under direct supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • 50% - Assists with operational and financial data analysis and preparation of reporting, including but not limited to, executive-level management reporting and other reporting to analyze trends, variances, and relationships in data.
  • 40% - Assists with data analytics or other data technology capabilities to enhance business effectiveness as directed by management.
  • 5% - Reviews (both technical and peer) work products from co-workers.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • 5% - Performs special projects as directed by management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Mathematics or Statistics required; post-secondary degree in business field preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in financial and/or operational analysis, internships included.
  • Insurance industry knowledge preferred.
  • Experience working with large data sets, analyzing trends and pattern recognition preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
  • Coding skills in languages such as SQL, Python and/or R.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong problem-solving and analytical skills, including formulating logical and objective conclusions and the ability to think strategically and find innovative solutions to challenges.
  • Work effectively with teams and business units to understand business processes.
  • Effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Professional written and verbal communications skills.
