Data Analyst, HR job description

We are looking for a data-savvy professional to join our People team as a Data Analyst. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in Power BI and data analysis to generate actionable insights that support business and workforce decisions. You will work closely with the People team and business leaders to analyze employee data, identify trends, and drive decision-making with key insights. While prior HR experience is not required, your ability to work with the People Team to analyze large datasets and create compelling presentations will be essential in driving continuous improvements across the organization.

This is an opportunity for someone with strong business acumen, technical expertise, and a passion for problem-solving to shape our company's people strategies. You will play a critical role in using data to align workforce initiatives with broader business goals, enhancing decision-making and operational efficiency.

What Your Success Will Look Like

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses and generate predictive insights using various sources of people data (e.g., analyzing employee engagement data, evaluating compensation data trends, reporting on trends in turnover data, or developing a comprehensive view of the recruiting funnel).
  • Own our employee listening program by gathering data through Lattice, developing reporting, and presenting insights to the People team and leadership.
  • Utilize Greenhouse reporting to build out key recruiting reports, dashboards, and scorecards.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations using Google Slides and PowerPoint to communicate findings and recommendations clearly.
  • Create and maintain custom reports, dashboards, and analyses for HR team members and business leaders using Power BI.
  • Clean, merge, and analyze data from multiple systems to create cohesive and comprehensive data narratives.
  • Develop People dashboards to monitor workforce trends, including headcount, turnover, retention, diversity and inclusion, talent development, succession planning, and more.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Support our People Business Partners, compensation, finance, recruiting, and compliance in building reports tools and sharing insights that will enable the teams.
  • Provide data-driven recommendations to support decision-making in HR and overall business strategy.
  • Identify trends, patterns, and insights from People data to enable evidence-based decision-making across the organization.
  • Assist in ongoing HR projects, utilizing data analysis to identify inefficiencies, propose solutions, and drive continuous process improvement.

Systems Management & Maintenance

  • Collaborate with the People Operations team to conduct regular maintenance, audits, and troubleshooting on all HR systems (e.g., ADP, Greenhouse, Lattice) to ensure data integrity and system integration.
  • Support HRIS upgrades or changes, partnering with IT, Payroll, and other departments to ensure successful implementation and system functionality.
  • Ensures reports, dashboards, and systems have the appropriate security governance and maintains strict confidentiality of data and information contained in these systems.

Who You Are And What You Bring

  • BI Tools - 2+ years of experience building dashboards and reports using Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Spotfire or similar BI tools.
  • Excel & Google Sheets - Advanced skills in Excel and Google Sheets (e.g., VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros, working with large data sets).
  • Experience using SQL, Python and/or R preferred
  • Data Storytelling - 1-2 years of experience building and communicating data-driven presentations for HR or business leaders using PowerPoint or Google Slides, with a strong emphasis on data visualization best practices.
  • Project Management - Experience with project management platforms like Monday.com, including task tracking and timeline management.
  • Analytical Skills - Strong analytical and organizational skills, ability to audit and clean data with attention to detail and accuracy in data analysis.
  • Business Acumen - Deep understanding of business operations and the ability to align data insights with strategic objectives.
  • Communication - Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving - Ability to leverage data to identify inefficiencies, propose solutions, and drive continuous improvement.
  • HRIS Administration & Implementation - Experience with HRIS data administration and implementation (e.g., ADP Workforce Now) preferred

Compensation

  • The base salary range is $75,000 (entry-level) - $85,000 (highly experienced), exclusive of fringe benefits. If you are hired at Scorpion, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. Additionally, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the total salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary bonuses or commissions.

We are looking for a data-savvy professional to join our People team as a Data Analyst. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in Power BI and data analysis to generate actionable insights that support business and workforce decisions. What Your Success Will Look Like
