Job Description & Responsibilities
The Data Analyst, Global Finance Operations, is part of the Global Finance Operations team that is responsible for providing technical solutions and improvements to the IRC’s global finance function.
The Data Analyst will provide technical support on data management and solutions to enable IRC’s budget, forecasting and management reporting processes, and will be responsible for the creation of Power BI reports and building data automation tools in Excel (with Power Query Editor). The Data Analyst will report to the Sr Data Analyst, Global Finance Operations and will work closely with other teams from across Finance and the entire organization to deliver data automation tools (reports, templates and models) to manage budget and reporting requirements.
A qualified candidate has experience in Power BI, DAX, Power Query, Excel and a background in data analytics and business intelligence.
Major Responsibilities
- Coordinating data to develop financial queries, templates, and reports to improve budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes
- With mentorship from the Sr Data Analyst and Director, Global Finance Operations, identifying and implementing solutions that meet the reporting and analysis needs of finance team members
- Working with business users, solutions architects, and business analysts to understand the requirements for reports
- Crafting and building the Excel data automation tools using Power Query Editor
- Developing new Power BI reports
- Perform quality assurance on reports to ensure accurate data
- Implementing updates to maintain existing reports and tools
- Assist business users with using published reports and tools

- Advise colleagues to make informed organizational decisions with data and reports
Requirements
Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Business, Finance, or Accounting
- Data analytics or finance experience creating reports with Power BI, using a variety of data sources (SQL, Excel, Power BI Datasets, dataflows)
Demonstrated Skills And Competencies
- Ability to handle and manipulate large data sets
- Highly skilled with Microsoft Excel;
- Coding knowledge and experience querying databases (SQL, DAX, M Language)
- Good communication skills to collaborate with team and business users to develop new reports and tools
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and organize time efficiently to meet project deadlines
Preferred Experience And Skills
- Experience with the MS SQL Server, Microsoft Power BI Suite including DAX, Power Query (M Language), Data Model integration with Excel
- Experience with data preparation and transformation
- Knowledge of relational data modelling concepts
- Ability to translate raw data from various sources into relevant reports
- Understanding of dimensional modelling concepts
- Ability to research discrepancies between report outputs and user expectation
