Job Description & Responsibilities
The Data Analyst will formulate analytical methods required for regulatory program functions, quality control/quality assurance, and reporting. They will analyze program data for both routine operations and special projects, as well as maintain the current data analysis and visualization infrastructure. Additionally, the Data Analyst will support the development of new tools and facilitate their integration into the existing infrastructure.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Non-competitive: bachelor’s degree in data or computer science, informatics, economics, statistics, mathematics, or a related field, and either: satisfactory completion of a two-year traineeship or two years of experience* in data visualization, and statistical models and data mining tools.
Substitution: A master’s degree in the above fields may substitute for one year of the specialized experience. A Ph.D. in the above fields may substitute for two years of the specialized experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience coding in 'R' and experience using Tableau. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment in a professional manner; manage multiple activities and meet deadlines; detail oriented with strong organizational skills; and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

For new State employees appointed to graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
