Data Analyst, Energy & Power job description

The Data Analyst role is responsible for turning project and program level data into information, information into insight and insight into business decisions. Critical parameters of the role are data accuracy, quality, and timeliness. The Data Analyst is accountable for all reporting to internal stakeholders and for monitoring performance and quality control plans to identify improvements.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Gather relevant project data from various sources such as P6, Unifier, and SAP
  • Develop and automate Tableau and Power BI Dashboards and reports using information and data as above
  • Develop, maintain, and publish internal PM scorecard system and provide improvement strategies.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for all new data requests
  • Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
  • Experience in predictive modeling and data mining using large and complex datasets
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Derive actionable insights from structured and unstructured big data
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects, etc.), databases (SQL etc.), and programming
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
  • Communicate analytical results clearly and succinctly
  • Maintain and update weekly and monthly financial and schedule reports
  • Respond to Ad Hoc reporting requests as needed team members and leaders
  • Quality control and quality assurance of reports
  • Support controls lead and PMO lead to perform process improvement and data analysis
  • Manage SharePoint site reporting
  • Develop and update reporting job aids
  • Validate project management tool data sources (P6, Unifier, SAP)
Data Analyst, Energy & Power job requirements

Here’s What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical field such as Computer Science, engineering, CM, or similar is preferred but not required
  • At least 2 years of reporting and/or project controls experience
  • Must be proficient in SQL, advanced MS Excel functions (VBA, pivot tables, etc.), Power BI dashboard, Predictive data modeling, data mining and MS PowerPoint.
  • Experience with SAP and Primavera 6 scheduling software desirable
  • Unifier experience desirable

The base salary range for this position is $96,000 to $130,000. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
