Job Description & Responsibilities
BBC Studios is hiring a Data Analyst within our award-winning News division. Working within our Audience Engagement team you will leverage data from our analytics platform as well as internal data warehouses to help our editorial teams deliver against their strategic growth and monetisation targets and deepen engagement with our audience
Reporting to the Audience Development Editor, this is a full-time hybrid working position which can be based out of either our Washington DC or NYC offices.
Role Responsibility
- Build reports and provide analysis using data from our analytics platforms to support editorial and commissioning teams deliver against their growth targets
- Develop and monitor metrics and KPIs to determine content performance and communicate these effectively to stakeholders while also coaching them to be proactive in examining data
- Use data creatively to inspire and engage content producers, making recommendations where you see opportunities
- Be the expert and go to person in the Audience Growth team, driving analytical best practice
- Work with data engineering teams to create pipelines from analytics tools such as Piano, Zephr and Snowflake to allow automation of business reporting dashboards and generation of insight
- Build your knowledge and learning new skills by attending workshops, seminars and conferences or self-learning materials
Requirements
Knowledge & Skills
- You will be an expert using audience analytics tools such as Piano, Google Analytics or Adobe Marketing Cloud
- Proficiency in SQL and or Python / R to analyse large datasets strongly desired
- Strong data visualisation skills , using BI tool such as Tableau, Power Bi, Qlik or similar
- Good working knowledge of statistical techniques
- Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner to senior stakeholders
- Desire to understand, in detail, the consumer experience on BBC News digital products
- Demonstrate interest in news and current affairs
Professional Experience
- 3+ years’ experience in a digital setting working as a data analyst or data scientist
- Experience of delivering commercial outcomes from the creation and distribution of advanced analytics

- The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $73k to 85k. This range does not include bonus compensation or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and geographic location of the position.
