Data Analyst job description

SoundCloud is looking for a talented Data Analyst with a focus on Business Intelligence to join our team at SoundCloud. In this role, you will manage and optimize our Looker dashboards and the data pipelines that power them.

Your expertise will help transform data into actionable insights, ensuring that critical information is readily available to guide decision-making across SoundCloud. You will leverage your advanced SQL skills, analytical mindset, and creative problem-solving to design dashboards and scalable data solutions that answer key strategic questions. Stakeholders will view you as a strategic partner, empowering them to make confident decisions that drive business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their data needs and build automated data solutions that guide decision making and monitor performance.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize data pipelines using BigQuery and Airflow.
  • Design and create interactive and visually compelling dashboards in LOOKER / Looker Studio that put critical data in the hands of decision makers.
  • Conduct exploratory analyses, both open-ended and targeted, and translate these into meaningful and insightful information for business users via appropriate tools.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline issues to ensure seamless data flow.
  • Collaborate with other analysts, data engineers, data scientists, and product managers to ensure data quality, consistency, and alignment across different data sources and platforms.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and documentation to share best practices, learnings, and institutional knowledge across the organization.
  • Build and maintain a training program to help users get the most from our dashboards.
Data Analyst job requirements

Experience And Background

  • 1-2 years experience in product analytics / business intelligence or graduate/post graduate degree in a related field such as computer science, data science, statistics, or business analytics.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience working with large-scale data sets on cloud platforms such as GCP or AWS.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools such as LOOKER, Tableau, Power BI or equivalent BI tools.
  • Experience in Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) process to create data pipelines, schedule and clean data
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and recommendations for different audiences.
  • Curiosity and passion to find & elevate the data narratives and exercise influence to drive change.
  • Passion for music and interest in understanding user behavior and preferences in the music domain.
