Data Analyst, Banking job description

As a Data Analyst on the Banking team, you will play a key role in shaping the reporting and analytics framework for critical areas like Credit Risk and Product Analytics. Your work will span descriptive, diagnostic, forecasting, and impact analysis. From designing reports and dashboards to building meaningful metrics and KPIs, you'll turn raw data into actionable insights that drive our banking initiatives forward.

You'll collaborate closely with product, finance, and business stakeholders, as well as analytics and engineering peers, to create well-structured datasets and implement a data-driven culture across the organization. This role provides a unique opportunity to work on user interaction, behavioral, transactional/credit and product usage data, as well as partner with underwriting policy owners and credit risk teams to enhance our credit and liquidity products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish Looker as a primary analytics and reporting tool.
  • Build modular, reusable data models in Looker for sophisticated analysis.
  • Validate and create high-value datasets to support business strategies and intelligence.
  • Generate actionable insights and uncover new opportunities to improve performance.
  • Standardize metrics and build consensus among stakeholders.
  • Define success metrics for banking initiatives, including goals and KPIs/OKRs.
  • Design and measure experiments in collaboration with product managers and analysts.
  • Partner with credit risk teams and product managers to develop underwriting policies.
  • Leverage credit bureau datasets to help develop strategies and enhance liquidity product offerings at Current.
  • Foster a data-driven culture across the organization by promoting analytics literacy and self-service BI adoption.
Data Analyst, Banking job requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years in data analytics or business intelligence roles.
  • 3+ years building data models, reports, and dashboards in BI tools (preferably Looker).
  • Expertise in SQL with the ability to handle complex datasets.
  • Exposure to dimensional modeling for meaningful analytics.
  • Proficiency in visualizing data in various formats.
  • Basic statistical analysis and machine learning modeling experience.
  • Programming experience (Python preferred).
  • Excellent communication and requirement-gathering abilities.
  • Strong storytelling skills to narrate insights and findings effectively.

Nice To Have

Experience with:

  • Data modeling in dbt.
  • Working in fintech, banking, or B2C environments.
  • Credit risk domain or credit bureau datasets.
  • MPP databases (e.g., BigQuery).

This role has a base salary range of $130,000 - $175,000. Compensation is determined based on experience, skill level, and qualifications, which are assessed during the interview process.
