Data Analyst job description

Wagmo is growing our business to business product and requires a nimble analyst to build analyses, present data, ensure business key performance indicators and objectives and key results are high quality, and assist in making our data explorable, understandable, and high quality.

We have a diverse, lean engineering team and a culture where we take work seriously without taking ourselves too seriously.

Our Tech Stack: Sigma, Count.co, dbt, BigQuery, Fivetran, GitHub, Slack, Notion

What You'll Do

  • Translate business requests for data and analysis into operational queries, data marts, and visualizations. Partner with our Sr. Analytics Engineer to design and build high quality, explorable data marts and analyses. Develop focused analyses of business problems that explore and outline the causes and effects of changes in product, business, or technology strategy.
  • Communicate findings to a wide range of stakeholders, including team members, management, and external partners. This involves preparing summary & detailed reports, selecting appropriate visualizations, presenting data insights in meetings, and tailoring the communication style to the audience's level of expertise.
  • Help optimize and further develop the data and analysis request process to ensure simple communication of the workload, goals, and accomplishments of the data team.
  • Build self-serve, operational reports to aid business functions such as sales, marketing, and customer operations key performance indicators and objectives and key results. These reports should provide actionable insights and track key performance indicators to support strategic planning and operational efficiency.
  • Pro-actively surface insights to stakeholders to drive data usage and informed decision-making by regularly reviewing data trends, identifying opportunities for improvement, and providing recommendations. This proactive approach helps stakeholders make evidence-based decisions and fosters a data-driven culture within the organization.
  • Utilize dbt, SQL, and Git to build new analyses and support existing ones, ensuring that data is efficiently managed and accessible for ongoing projects. This includes writing complex queries, optimizing & designing data marts, and maintaining version control for collaborative work.
  • Document findings and definitions to improve company-wide understanding by creating comprehensive documentation for data processes, methodologies, and terminologies. This helps ensure consistency and clarity across different departments and future projects.

What You'll Need To Be Successful

  • Proven track record of working autonomously with strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills
  • Comfortable working on individual components of an analysis and collaborating with stakeholders
  • 2+ years working in engineering as an individual contributor in a nimble startup environment
  • Clear and direct communication skills about complex, technical topics
  • Strong data visualization instincts
  • Understanding of SaaS metrics
  • Experience in our tech stack
  • Like to be an over-communicator (we’re remote so communication is paramount)
  • You see obstacles as a fun challenge not a roadblock
  • You are a source of calm; eliminating chaos for your team and making things less ambiguous so everyone knows the way forward
