Employee-owned Kitchell seeks an experienced and dedicated Data Analyst to join our Northern California region in Sacramento and build a long-term career at one of the most innovative and growth-oriented building companies in the United States.

Overview

The Data Analyst – Analytics & Controls will play a pivotal role in the development of robust­­ project controls and data architecture within Kitchell’s project and construction management services division. This position will be responsible for developing user-friendly dashboards for internal and external clients, creating risk management tools, integrating enterprise platform databases, developing automation solutions, and providing continuous improvement support for existing tools and dashboards.

Location:

This role will be located in Sacramento, CA and will require to be able to be in the area upon employment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive and user-friendly dashboards and reports using Power BI to provide insights and key performance indicators to internal and external clients.
  • Create risk assessment and management tools that allow project teams to identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks, helping to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Collaborate with the IT department to integrate data from various enterprise platforms, ensuring data consistency and accuracy for project controls and analytics.
  • Spearhead the transformation of the company's data architecture with a user-centric approach, ensuring that the architecture supports long-term standardized process development and tool evolution that align with user and client needs.
  • Develop or assist in the implementation of automation solutions to streamline project controls processes, including cost control, scheduling control, and data collection, improving efficiency and reducing manual efforts.
  • Work closely with end-users and the Implementation Manager to identify opportunities for continuous improvement in existing tools and dashboards, implement enhancements, and ensure they align with evolving project needs.
  • Maintain necessary documentation of dashboard development processes, risk management tools, data integration workflows, and automation solutions, making it easy for users to understand and utilize these resources.
  • Provide training and support to end-users, ensuring they can effectively use the dashboards, tools, and automation solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clients, project managers, project engineers, general contractors, consultants, interdepartmental teams, and senior leadership to align data and analytics solutions with project controls requirements.
  • Collaborate with the IT department to ensure adherence to data governance and security standards to ensure the confidentiality and integrity of project data.
Data Analyst job requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in data science, computer science, information technology, or a related field (Master's degree preferred), or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of experience in data analysis, dashboard development, risk management tools, and data integration, preferably in the construction or engineering industry.

Desired

  • Proven experience building robust relational databases.

Required

Knowledge and Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of database systems, data warehousing, software development, and data analysis tools.
  • Strong expertise in Power BI, SSRS, and DAX for data visualization and analytic programming and automation skills, with experience in languages like SQL and DAX.
  • Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions, informed by user research.
  • Ability to work across groups and across disciplines.
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision; able to coordinate and expedite multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Ability to work with support multiple project teams simultaneously.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, SharePoint, Azure, Power Apps

Work Environment
