Job Description & Responsibilities
eBay’s Managed Payments Global AML team is hiring an AML Data Analyst to help support the Payments AML program at eBay. The ideal candidate is someone who offers extensive product knowledge and expertise. This role will be responsible for supporting the global AML data functions and analytics.
Responsibilities
- Perform analyses on AML-related data to identify and mitigate risks to the AML review process.
- Understand AML trends by utilizing strong analytical skills in order to identify and mitigate potential risks.
- Recommend metrics and reporting enhancements by reviewing large amounts of AML and upstream data to define opportunities.
- Partner with the global AML teams to gather information on current AML trends and leverage information to enhance the monitoring methodologies.
- Work with engineering and product teams to understand the end-to-end data pipelines including the risk calculation engine and API & ETL processes into the case management gateway.
- Drive the development of business requirements for the key initiatives for the AML Center of Compliance team.
- Support the data exercises for the reviews, such as assessments, internal audits, and exams.
- Make recommendations for optimal data architecture, management, and performance of the data process.
- Works closely with engineering and product teams to lead the resolution of any issues discovered.
- Develop internal controls and metrics to continuously monitor trends and data quality; implement processes to detect, correct and prevent invalid data or errors.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably BS/BA degree Statistics, Applied Econometrics, Math, Analytics, Computer Science, other related Core Sciences or equivalent.
- 8+ years relevant professional experience or 6 yrs + with a master’s degree
- Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in SQL and Advanced Excel. Hands-on experience validating the accuracy of SQL logic querying large data sets and ensuring accuracy of data mapping to eBay’s data systems.
- Expertise in building decision boards using visualization tools like Tableau.
- Proficiency in Python and a good understanding of data warehouse architecture is required. Should have knowledge on Spark or Hadoop.
- Strong ability to derive insights and be able to articulate complex ideas concisely.
- Experience in working in an agile environment and collaborating with product and engineering teams on initiatives.
- Should be a self-starter and be able to initiate and lead multiple projects simultaneously from start to finish.
- Ability to collaborate across functional teams from different geographies and time zones to achieve project objectives.
- Ability to learn, adapt and work on New POCs, concepts or tools.
- Experience working with system and data architecture, data classification, documenting end-to-end data flow and data lineage.
- Strong understanding of e-commerce and payments financial crimes domain.
Preferred Qualifications
- CAMS or similar certification.
- Fintech compliance experience.
- Data Science and Machine Learning experience are nice to have.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York City is expected in the range below.
$106,800 - $162,800
Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
