Job Description & Responsibilities
DNV Energy Systems- The Energy Management group is seeking a Business Analyst (BA) to join our rapidly growing Reno, NV team. The successful candidate will provide analytical support for our utility-led energy incentive programs by collecting, analyzing, and reporting program data. The BA will also serve as the program’s point of contact with IT Teams to manage, improve, and test program databases.
This position will be based in our Reno (NV) office. Local candidates preferred
What You’ll Do
- Compile and analyze program and project-level data such as energy savings, incentives, and application status
- Manage and perform quality control on program databases
- Develop dashboards and spreadsheets with accompanying detailed data dictionaries for internal, client, and regulatory submissions
- Identify and create specifications for database improvements
- Develop reports, processes, graphs, and dashboards to track key program performance metrics, including forecasting energy savings, tracking budgets and client invoices
- Develop, streamline, document, and automate energy efficiency and clean energy program processes
- Perform critical analysis of program data to identify operational and data anomalies and exceptions
- Quickly translate data and accompanying analysis into internal, client, and management
Requirements
What is Required
- Bachelor’s degree in analytic discipline or equivalent
- Three to Five years of experience compiling and analyzing data and producing data-intensive reports
- High Degree of Proficiency with Excel, inclusive of Pivot Tables, Data Management Tools, and advanced formulas and functions
- Demonstrated analytical abilities to develop and implement resolutions for business challenges and issues
- Willingness and ability to travel via airplane, as required, up to approximately 10% of the year
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
- We conduct pre-employment drug and background screening
What Is Preferred
- Energy efficiency or clean energy experience
- Prior experience in market research inclusive of market analysis, market assessment, and market segmentation
- A proven and demonstrable grasp of data analysis tools such as Power BI, SQL Server, Oracle, Access, or equivalent data visualization tools
- Familiarity with energy savings analysis and modeling tools
- Familiarity with clean energy (solar PV, energy storage, electric vehicle charging)
- Proficiency and understanding of financial evaluation models, including NPV, ROI, IRR, and net payback
- Familiarity and experience with data reconciliation applications (e.g., month-end accounting reconciliations, accruals, inventory reconciliations, etc.)
- Direct client-facing experience
- Prior project experience in developing IT business requirements and/or participating in complex database management system projects. Experience with JIRA preferred
- Prior project experience in data mining and/or analytics initiatives
- Proactive approach to analytical tools and analytical model development
- Knowledge of PowerClerk programming a plus
