Job Description & Responsibilities

- Remote position
PRIMARY ROLE The Data Analyst will be a subject matter expert on the Unizin Data Platform and interface with our member institutions on new data assets, querying data within the Google Big Query environment, data modeling, visualizations, and technical questions/requests. The Unizin Data Platform is hosted in Google Cloud, so cloud-native analytics tools (BigQuery, CloudSQL, etc.) will be leveraged. Also, visualization layers are key to our member institutions (Tableau, PowerBI, Superset, etc.)
Equally important is support for institution analysts and researchers. This role also requires meeting with UDP users and stakeholders to understand their priorities and challenges with data, as part of both onboarding new institutions as well as working with existing members. This individual will also craft data solutions alongside our members in a consulting capacity.
Requirements
Minimum education:
Bachelor’s degree in information systems, engineering, computer science, math, statistics or other related field required. Combinations of related education and experience will be equally considered!
Minimum experience:
At least 1 year of systems or business analysis or applicable field
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Strong experience with SQL to manipulate data
- Strong experience with visualization tools and reporting/dashboards
- Demonstrated skill with business analysis, process mapping, and design of complex systems and processes. Position requires excellent oral, written and listening skills, ability to interpret complex environments and communicate with customers from both technical and non-technical backgrounds
- Demonstrated technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills to take business requirements and abstract them into models and concepts
- An ability to concisely and accurately document team actions such as decisions, assumptions, issues, and challenges
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills necessary for working collaboratively and strategically within a diverse environment
Other Notable Knowledge and skills (not required):
- Experience with machine learning and predictive analytics
- Strong background in statistics
- Experience with cloud-native technology (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.)
- Experience in higher education analytics
- Experience working in support ticket systems and technical customer support
- LEVEL OF DECISION MAKING
The position will be required to participate on a cross-functional team on medium to large projects/assignments. Position will have to perform full range of standard level work that typically requires interpreting, more complex, less clearly-defined issues. The position will have to identify problems and possible solutions and take appropriate action and resolve.
Over time, this position will become a subject matter expert in learning analytics and a go-to resource for our member institutions.
- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be comfortable working with a computer daily for several hours. Must be able to communicate detailed work verbally and in writing. Must be able to context switch for concurrent task and interruptions, when they arise.
What we offer
Salary range: $75,000-$80,000 annually
