Data Analyst job description

The Data Analyst will support the Office of Research and Economic Development and the Office of Technology Partnerships to improve decision making and facilitate continuous improvement of its processes and programs to maximize impact in the region. By understanding the generated data from the different processes at RED and OTP and by deriving insights the Data Analyst will help create efficiencies, maximize project outcomes and facilitate integrated grant reporting and progress reports.

  • degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required

Experience Requirement

  • 4 - 7 years of related experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a database administrator and with data analytics

Minimum Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with a broad range of professional and technical staff.
  • Thorough knowledge of business intelligence functions, analytics, industry standards and best practices.
  • Proven ability to serve as a technical resource providing advice and counsel on business intelligence issues.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage complex information, assess problems, and develop and effective solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey complex information in a clear, concise manner.
  • Thorough knowledge of relevant internal databases, BI applications and tools. Ability to produce high-quality reports and documentation.
  • Detail oriented, with ability to manage time and organize competing priorities.
  • Proficiency in data manipulation languages, including MS SQL, Oracle Database, or PostgreSQL.
  • Experience using data analytics and reporting tools such as PowerBI, SAP business objects, Excel, etc.
  • Ability to work under pressure in ambiguous situations.
  • Basic understanding of domain business processes such as grant tracking and reporting, program management reporting, ERP (enterprise resources and planning), performance measurement and metrics development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with a diversity of specialized databases, including UCOP databases, SBDC Neoserra, Wellspring Sophia and BASECAMP

The budgeted pay scale for this position is from $76,000 up to $107,800. The salary offer will be commensurate with the final candidate's related education and experience.
