Data Analyst job description

This role is eligible to be performed remotely, however, if you reside within 100 miles of Organic Valley offices in WI, you will be expected to collaborate onsite in a hybrid fashion for 4 to 8 days per month. If you reside outside of 100 miles, you will travel in 4 times/year for intentional collaboration and connection.

Summary Of Role

The Cooperative Equity Data Analyst is responsible for the administration and facilitation of data analysis, validation and reporting in support of the cooperative’s own privately held preferred stock offerings including outside preferred stock securities and member preferred stock, in addition to its’ member common voting stock, patronage and non-patronage business administration and reporting needs. This highly technical role serves a combination of administrative review, reconciliation, data analysis and collaborative work functions in support of the cooperative’s equity and patronage programs which are highly governed by regulatory requirements, cooperative bylaws, articles of incorporation, the cooperative’s board of directors and other of the cooperative’s governing documents which all support the cooperative’s business model and the systems that support it.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the collection of patronage and non-patronage data on both a cash and accrual basis to meet the cooperatives reporting needs to be used in the following ways: 1099 reporting, corporate tax return, patronage distribution and/or allocation, capital base plan, identification of member credit limits, including other needs as identified. Compile, review & validate data to ensure accuracy.
  • Collaborate with staff cross-functionally to ensure compliance with the cooperative’s business model and integrity of data flow through the cooperative’s systems.
  • Review, analyze and validate equity and patronage data across cooperative systems to ensure integrity and compliance in accordance with regulatory agencies, cooperative bylaws, articles of incorporation and other of the cooperative’s governing documents. Work collaboratively and cross-functionally with others to resolve issues and implement effective process improvements and work flow practices.
  • Reconcile all cash in and cash out activities for all related general ledger accounts within the responsibility and governance of the equity department.
  • Administer the annual capital base requirement review, system update and communication process to update member patron investment requirements as set forth in the cooperative’s capital base plan and as directed by the cooperative’s board of directors.
  • Identify, document and maintain business rules and requirements for data management of the cooperative’s equity and patronage programs.
  • Structure large data sets compiled from multiple systems to find usable information using effective data analytics methods.
  • Engage with internal customers and stakeholders to communicate changes and status updates.
  • Document, track and test development and reporting requests made to IT for functional maintenance and administration within the cooperative’s equity application.
  • Maintain regular contact with IT regarding the status of requested work orders for the cooperative equity department.
  • Prepare and facilitate meetings with IT to review business requirements for development and reporting requests. Work with IT to identify the most effective development and reporting solutions to meet the needs of the equity and patronage programs.
  • Support equity team with other duties as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree in data analytics, business analytics, accounting or related field required.
  • 2 years related work experience, preferred
  • Conceptual understanding and working knowledge of system structures, data hierarchies and workflows required
  • Understanding of accounting principals with the ability to understand financial data and related concepts
  • Ability and interest in understanding cooperative business models and patronage programs preferred
  • Must be self-motivated, organized and have clear and strong communication skills
  • Must provide regular status updates to teammates, co-workers and manager to keep everyone up to date and ensure initiatives are moving forward in a productive and efficient manner.
  • Ability to work with manager and prioritize business needs in a changing work environment
  • Detail oriented with the ability to identify technical details and summarize high level results and findings for documentation, tracking, presentation & decision making.
  • Must have a growth mindset with the ability to observe, analyze, communicate and participate in the implementation of process improvements, including the ability to identify process improvement opportunities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication to ensure understanding on all levels of the business and to build and maintain relationships necessary for successful process changes.
  • Ability to work independently and on a team; ability to demonstrate an appropriate and professional level of assertiveness in performing work responsibilities; solid problem solving, organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to apply continuous improvement methods and use critical thinking skills to comprehend, calculate results, analyze data and reason with stakeholders in order to problem solve and make educated business decisions.
  • Ability to translate business needs and results with IT, including the ability to research and document issues before reporting them to IT.
  • Ability to understand table structures, system views & flag settings within databases
  • Ability to export, review and manipulate data outside of systems and import a finished product back into systems for documentation and storage
  • Working knowledge of current data analytics methods and tools
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced knowledge specifically in Excel.

Base salary wage range: $57,824 -$73,746 per year

This salary wage range is exclusive of fringe benefits. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary bonuses. If you are hired at CROPP, your final base salary wage compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and/or experience. Additionally, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that entry-level candidates to this role should expect to be at the lower end of the salary wage range and hiring at the maximum of the salary wage range is not typical.
