Job Description & Responsibilities
Western National is seeking a Data Analyst I to join our team!
The individual in this role will have the opportunity to translate business requests into results through data gathering and analysis. They will partner with internal customers to clarify requirements and provide deliverables that meet their needs.
What are the responsibilities and opportunities of this role?
- Uses data to help solve business problems and answer questions about business performance and meets management and compliance, analytical and reporting needs.
- Develops an understanding of data available within the data warehouse and learns the data structure within the various source systems.
- Collaborates with the data management team by testing and validating data elements via defined test plans.
- Pulls data from SQL server and a cloud PostgreSQL data lake using SQL querying tools.
- Recognizes data quality and business application.
- Assists other data analysts with projects.
- Designs and builds business intelligence reports and dashboards using Tableau or SSRS.
- Modifies and improves established reports using Tableau or SSRS.
- Identifies new insights and process improvements.
- Builds an understanding of one to three insurance lines.
- Performs special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
What is a must have?
- 0-3 years of experience in data analysis, reporting, and data mining.
What will our ideal candidate have?
- Basic insurance knowledge of assigned lines of business.
- Clear communication skills with the ability to communicate findings to various levels and departments within the organization.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Intermediate knowledge of SQL.
- Advanced Microsoft 365 knowledge, specifically pivot tables.
- Pursuit of CPCU or similar insurance-related course of study.
- Bachelor’s degree in science, technology, mathematics, business, or related field; experience in lieu of degree is acceptable.
What we offer
The full hiring range for this role is $61,400 - $84,480 annually. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on the job-related knowledge, skills, credentials, and experience of each candidate as well as other factors such as the scope and location of the role. Candidates looking for compensation outside of the posted range are encouraged to apply and will be considered based on their individual qualifications and/or may be considered for other positions.
