Data Analyst, Private Equity job description

Whether you are a fund investor, manager or advisor, Bloomberg has the data, solutions, and industry network to help our clients take their fund and company analysis to the next level. The Alternative Investments Data team is made up of Market Specialists and Technologists with a passion for private markets, from fund launch to liquidation, seed round to IPO, and all the data in between.

What's the role?

The Alternative Investment Funds Automation team is looking for a highly motivated individual with an interest in Finance, Data, and Technology to support Bloomberg's Private Equity dataset. You will be the in-house consumer of our data product by supporting the group's industry authorities and technologists with premium content delivery, insight generation, and collaboration with a wide range of partners across the organization to support any internal and external client demand for our data.

We'll trust you to:

  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of premium content for Bloomberg's private equity product
  • Gain deep knowledge of the private equity dataset and the end-to-end processes involved in how our data product is created
  • Use domain expertise to help Account Managers, Technical Specialists, and Product Managers to better understand our clients' data needs, key market trends, and gaps in our dataset
  • Lead and expand relationships with a wide range of products partners across the organization (News, Research, Engineering, etc.) who consume our data
  • Identify unique themes that may impact private markets and generate data models, commentary. and forecasts to support arguments
  • Set and maintain methodologies and data dictionary for the private equity dataset
  • Provide in-depth customer support to users of Bloomberg data products by resolving inquiries in a timely manner
  • Lead ad-hoc projects to optimize processes and improve the quality of the datasets
Data Analyst, Private Equity job requirements

You'll need to have:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in relevant data technology or financial field, or equivalent professional work experience
  • 4+ years of work experience in the Financial Services industry, including exchanges, market data providers, consultancies, institutional investors, private equity, credit firms, or financial institutions
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts such as valuation techniques, internal rate of return, portfolio management and more
  • Deep understanding of private financial markets and the investment lifecycle
  • Strong interest in M&A and financial markets more broadly
  • Ability to think critically and creatively about new ways our data can add value to our clients
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple client queries and projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially when articulating your ideas to diverse audiences
  • Experience working on data projects, querying large databases and using analytical tools such as Excel, SQL, or Python
  • Legal authorization to work full-time in the United States and will not require visa sponsorship

We'd love to see:

  • Certification such as a CFA charter holder or CAIA
  • Experience in using business intelligence to identify gaps and trends, insights or opportunities for product improvements

Salary Range: 85,000 - 105,000 USD Annually + Benefits

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
