Job Description & Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Director of Business Intelligence, the Data Analyst will create analyses and data tools to drive informed decisions and innovation for advancing the Association’s mission and revenue growth/sustainability. As a member of the BI/Analytics team and broader DT team, the Data Analyst will inform actionable strategy across the Association through descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analytics, testing and optimization. Working with the full pipeline of data, this role will produce insights, statistics, and related visualizations to help teams better understand the needs of the ALS community, improve processes, prioritize interactions, and reach mission goals.
Core Duties And Responsibilities
The following includes, but are not limited to, the core duties and primary responsibilities for the Data Analyst role.
- Partner with stakeholders to understand requirements and define questions to be answered with data tools that support key business priorities.
- Acquire, process and clean data
- Partner with team members to design a world-class data infrastructure and environment.
- Design data modeling processes to create algorithms and predictive models and perform custom analysis
- Manipulate large data sets and use them to identify trends and reach meaningful conclusions to inform strategic business decisions
- Measure and improve results, present final result to stakeholders, and make adjustments to repeat the process to solve a new problem
- Work with survey, financial, demographic, and geospatial data to produce data products, including reports, dashboards, presentations and other visualizations
- Continue to build data science proficiencies and help team members acquire analytics and data visualization skills as well
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience
- 2+ years of quantitative experience
- Ability to partner with executives, business stakeholders and program managers to gather and execute on requirements
- Strong sense of ownership and initiative while empowering others to do the same
- Strong applied analytics and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with large data sets, statistical analysis, modeling, and visualization tools, including Tableau
- Experience with GIS software preferred
- Proficiency at SQL, R or Python
- Exceptional technical writing skills
- Ability to communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way
- Ability to visualize data in the most effective way possible for a given project or study
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with machine learning and AI
- Familiarity with statistics and data management tools
- Ability to work independently and with team members from different backgrounds
- Excellent attention to detail
