Data Analyst job description

We are looking for a Data Analyst to join our fast-growing data and technology team. As a Data Analyst at C4ADS, you will be responsible for collecting and structuring data, creating new methods of analysis, and maintaining C4ADS’ increasingly complex data infrastructure. The ideal candidate has experience collecting and cleaning data at scale, building data pipelines, and is comfortable working with all types of structured and unstructured data. We are looking for people who are creative, passionate programmers willing to learn new skills and techniques to get the job done. Data Analysts are expected to demonstrate a high level of independence with their projects, acting in a coordination role with external contractors to complete large, complex data engineering tasks. What You’ll Do:

  • Help manage the data collection process, including cleaning and enriching outputs, for use in analytical workflows.
  • Maintain the data dictionary which sources and provides documentation for all data and tools for C4ADS.
  • Create innovative techniques for data analysis and automate processes where needed.
  • Work with stakeholders, including the management and analytical teams, to understand and support their data infrastructure needs.
  • Provide data analysis and technical support for publications.
  • Assist the data team with optimizing and improving existing resources and tools.
  • Keep our data organized and secure across company and client requirements.
Data Analyst job requirements

What We’re Looking For:

Required

  • A degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Informatics, Information Systems, or any other relevant degree or certification.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience using Python and libraries like Pandas and NumPy for data processing.
  • Working experience with web scraping tools like Scrapy and Beautiful Soup.
  • Experience managing projects with git and working on development in a team environment.
  • A strong commitment to personal and professional development.

Bonus Points For:

  • Development experience with machine learning or natural language processing models.
  • Experience with high performance and distributed computing tools for processing big data: Spark, Hadoop, OpenMP, etc.
  • Experience deploying and managing containerized applications and services: Docker, Kubernetes, etc.
  • Familiarity in modern, full-stack web development.
  • Experience with geospatial data analysis: PostGIS, ArcGIS/QGis, GeoMesa, etc.
  • Experience with relational SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with cloud services - AWS preferred.
