Job Description & Responsibilities
All of Us is a research program from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). It is seeking one million or more people from across the U.S. By doing so, it hopes to one day help speed up medical research. People who join will share information about their health, habits, and what it’s like where they live. By looking for patterns, researchers may learn more about what affects people’s health. The All of Us Research Program is building one of the largest biomedical data resources of its kind. The All of Us Research Hub stores health data from a diverse group of participants from across the United States.
Responsibilities will include study design, managing, cleaning, and analyzing a large number of data sets in varying formats, size, and origin, such as genomics data, data from electronic health records, user-generated data from health apps (including structured data such as usage logs and unstructured data such as online chatting transcripts), and datasets collected by the All of Us Research Program at UCI. The incumbent will be expected to interact with statisticians, data managers, and epidemiologists as well as other UCI team members, including faculty and staff researchers from several departments, and with the All of Us personnel, including programmers, program administrators, and others. The incumbent will be expected to work independently as well as under supervision, to provide support to data needs of all project teams as well as prepare analytical files, conduct statistical analyses, and prepare data and findings. The incumbent will prepare presentations as well as reports based on the data analyzed. The incumbent will also be expected to confer with data and IT personnel from other All of Us sites. Incumbent will also be expected to train staff members on the use of RedCap and other systems/platforms.
Requirements
Required
Master’s or higher degree in statistics, data science, or biostatistics with strength in epidemiology, genetics, or population sciences.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in data science and biostatistics with preference in epidemiology, genetics, or population sciences setting
- Several years of programming and analyses experience working with R, SAS, REDCap, and Python
- Experience working with large data sets; experience with data from electronic health records and data collected from participants is required.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate both orally and in writing with researchers, programmers, and program administrators at all levels
- Demonstrated ability to resolve complex problems independently.
- Skilled in handling a large volume of project priorities, working on multiple tasks simultaneously, and shifting priorities as needed or directed.
- Ability to handle confidential materials in an appropriate manner.
- Ability to implement a variety of research data analytic mechanisms and reports; skill to analyze and organize information and provide comprehensive reports and presentations from data.
- Ability to clean up and merge large sets of complex data, and perform quality control
Preferred
Knowledge of the health care system and other health related data. Knowledge of STATA is a plus.
